Auto crusher doesn't always work on gargoyles

I have the auto-crush slayer perk for gargoyles. Just ran into an issue where the Gargoyle had 0 HP and the auto-crush didn't trigger. I attacked it for about a minute, always hitting 0's, before manually crushing it.
