How to AFK Efficiently

So, you want to AFK but you don't want to waste XP or lose out on important drops while doing it? Fear not adventurer, for you are in the right place. Today we're going to be taking advantage of 3 RuneLite plugins and one native setting to take your AFKing to the next level. You're going to want to enable the following plugins:
Chat Notifications
Idle Notifier
Ground Items
First, we need to configure these plugins to do what we want them to do. First up, Chat Notifications. Just find the setting to "Notify on highlight". You can enable or disable the other settings as you wish.
Next up is Idle Notifier. What we're going to do here is only have the Idle Interaction notifications, change the delay to 30000ms (30s). This means it'll wait for 30 seconds of nothing happening before it notifies you, so if you're just waiting for a mob to spawn, it won't go off but if you've lost aggro, or the mobs got bunched up and can't reach you it'll go off.

Now the next step depends on your setup. If you have the Restoration Slayer Blessing, set the HP/Prayer threshhold to something like 70. It should basically never go off if you're AFKing a task that you can completely AFK. If you don't have the blessing, or your task is a bit more than you can handle completely hands-free, set it to something around 20-50. This means you'll get a notification that your health or prayer has dropped below the number you set so you know to eat or take a sip of a prayer potion.

Finally, we have Ground Items. You'll really only need this plugin if you don't have a Serenity pet but still might want to grab some alchables or a rare drop. This interface is a bit of a beast but it's not too hard to wrap your head around. What we want to do is enable "Notify for Highlighted Drops" and change your Notify Tier to whatever you might care about. You can adjust the values of each tier below, by default if you set your Notify Tier to "Low" it will notify you of any drop worth 20,000 or more. Play with the numbers as you see fit for what you'd want to pick up versus what you're fine with despawning while you're AFK.
Now you'll want to set up the native setting in the game itself. Go to your settings, hit "All Settings", then "Chat". Scroll down just a touch, and enable "Loot Drop Notifications", change the minimum value to a ridiculous number since we're handling that with RuneLite, and enable "Untradable Loot Notifications".
Now everything is set up to function and you have notifications for untradable items like Ancient Shards or Totems and specific expensive items if you wanted them.

You Serenity users might be saying to yourself right now "Well I have overcap double drop, what about all those items?" That's our next section if you'd just calm the hell down. That all was great, but that really only covered some basic PVM fundamentals. This is a guide about AFKing Efficiently. Now we're going to dig into the weeds of the Chat Notifications plugin. You may have noticed there's a few textboxes at the top of the configuration page. This is where the magic happens. You can input entire sentences or specific words to trigger the notifications. If you want to AFK woodcutting with an infernal axe and pump out that woodcutting xp EFFICIENTLY, you'll need to know that your buff has ended. Conveniently, the Infernal Axe sends you a chat message when your buff has expired. All you need to do is to put that phrase (or part of it if you want to cover all infernal buffs) into the highlight words. These are seperated by commas, so you can put "Your Infernal" on there and not get a notification if someone says "Your mom" in chat.

You can also cover all kinds of different things. Want to know when a voteboss is spawning? When you receive an overcap drop table item? When your slayer task is complete? The world is your oyster here. Anything that has a chat message that you want to know about, just punch it in and you'll get it.

Just keep in mind, you'll want to be as specific as possible with these highlights. If anybody says one of your highlight phrases in chat, you'll get pinged.

Now if you want to AFK slightly less but be more efficient, you can also enable the Boosts Information plugin and notify on boost threshhold. You can get notifications when boosts like potion effects are degrading past a certain threshhold.

"BuT RemInGToN, I'M Not GetTIng NotIfIcatIOns!one1!!1one"
-You (probably)

That's because YOU'RE NOT AFKING. You gotta open up YouTube or something, read a book on a different screen, whatever. If you have the Ethereal Client as the last screen you've interacted with, RuneLite assumes you're playing the game and not Idling so it won't notify you. Open a notepad document before you go watch TV or send a text.

That's all I've got for you today, hopefully this will help you AFK more efficiently and get them gains!

Nicely written Remington. Pretty sure this will cover all questions asked if people would want to know.

Especially people who are new to Runescape in itself, never played Osrs or are not familiar to working with the Runelite Plugins which are actually really convenient if you explore many of its benefits
